David Wesson joins City Gateway as new CEO

Seasoned Chief Executive and international business leader, David Wesson, joins City Gateway as new CEO.

City Gateway has appointed a heavy weight CEO from the world of business to add to their wealth of executive talent.

David Wesson has an impressive commercial background.  David was CEO of a consumer products company, Gemma International and prior to this as Trading Director at Virgin Retail. David has worked for over 20 years in business both in the UK and internationally. 

Between 2009 and 2013, David turned around the fortunes of Gemma, significantly increasing revenues and profitability and transforming the value and culture of this business.  David started his career at Arthur Andersen where he trained ACA.  He went on to work for Virgin both in the UK and Japan, becoming Trading Director of Virgin Retail UK.

David is passionate about building people, brands and propositions to deliver fantastic service for consumers, customers and end-users. 

David plans to further develop the talent within the City Gateway team, refresh the vision and brand, strategically review and deliver excellence in the City Gateway proposition.  David will also prepare the organisation to deliver future growth as we build on previous success.

David is the 4th CEO of City Gateway in a line of great people who have helped build the organisation. He follows interim CEO Bex White and before her Eddie Stride, Andrew Hargreaves and Gareth Jones.

David Wesson, incoming CEO said: ‘I’m delighted to be joining the talented team at City Gateway at this exciting time in the organisation’s development. As we plan the expansion of the City Gateway Alternative Provision School outside Tower Hamlets, we will also be working hard to build our Women, Early years, Youth and Apprenticeship services to continue to transform the lives of individuals and communities.

David Wesson starts in post on Thursday 8th of September.
