City Gateway Seeks New Chair of Trustees
City Gateway Founder Dirk Paterson steps down as Chairman pointing to the bright future ahead:
We are announcing today that the Trustees of City Gateway have commissioned a professional search agency to find the next Chair of City Gateway. Our founding Chair, Dirk Paterson completes his term on August 31st 2017 after 18 years.
Dirk introduced maximum terms of office for Trustees in line with best governance practice last year and is excited about the appointment of his successor. As well as overseeing the transition to the new structure, Dirk has spent the last year strengthening the board in line with the skills requirements of City Gateway. We have welcomed some exceptional new members to serve City Gateway.
David Wesson, CEO City Gateway Trust said: “Dirk Paterson is truly inspirational. A one-of-a-kind social entrepreneur with a true passion to make a difference and help those from communities most impacted by social and economic inequality in London. Over the last 18 years at City Gateway, he has built an entrepreneurial, social-impact organisation and in turn helped transform the individual life chances of 1,000’s of Londoners. We are all eternally grateful to Dirk and we look forward to a bright future as we build on his legacy.”
Dirk Paterson commented: “It’s been an enormous privilege to help govern City Gateway through its exceptional growth over the past 10 years. I’d like to thank each of the five exceptional CEOs and their teams who have brought tremendous zeal and determination as they have delivered hope to our community.
“As I sat at my kitchen table in Spitalfields in 1999 brainstorming and praying I believed for great things, but the staff of City Gateway with their faith, hard work and determination have delivered far more than anyone ever imagined. It’s been a blast and I know that my successor as Chair will love the thrills and spills of this journey of faith as much as I have. I can’t wait to hear of the next chapter of City Gateway’s exciting development.”
The Board of Trustees is in the process of an orderly transition, between now and the end of August, and has recently commenced a professional search for a successor to be appointed as future Chair. Ewen McAlpine at Macaulay Search is running the recruitment process. City Gateway seeks a Chair who is able to match the organisation’s conviction and passion to cultivate excellence for its service users; a visionary and exceptional leader with an active Christian faith, strong justice convictions and entrepreneurial appetite.
