Our Story

City Gateway was founded in 1999 with a clear mission, to bring hope to the people of East London, who had not benefitted from the area’s wider economic growth.

Our work started by supporting NEET young people in Tower Hamlets and helping individuals to access education and training to progress onto apprenticeships, further education or employment. In the years since, our provision offering has grown, enabling us to transform even more lives.

Through our work with young people we have now established the City Gateway 14-19 Alternative Provision Free School, as well as offering a number of other training opportunities for young people aged 19-24, including Traineeships and Apprenticeships with prestigious, global employers.

The development of our Early Years provision and our Women’s Programmes has enabled us to assist the development of many children in the local area, whilst supporting over 500 women a year into greater independence, confidence and professional skills.

The mantra of ‘bringing hope’ remains central to City Gateway’s mission, as we seek to enable more individuals to create flourishing communities, in some of London’s poorest boroughs.
